Location and community
Our location in Barnes (Zone 2) tends to be ideal for families with parents who work in London’s central areas, but who want to live in a calmer atmosphere with easy access to parks and nature. Many Swedish families choose to relocate to Barnes and surrounding neighbourhoods, giving rise to a community that regularly meets for picnics, events and celebrations.
Nature & the City
Situated in calm and leafy West London, our campus is ideally located to make the most of serene natural environments and a cosmopolitan city.
Barnes is a popular area to practise a wide range of sports such as golf, rugby, football and rowing. And with wilderness along the riverbank still intact, pupils and their teachers can venture just outside the classroom doors to study trees, bugs, soil and water.
At the same time, we are located a 20-minute walk away from Hammersmith Underground Station. From there, all of London’s libraries, museums, observatories, royal buildings and famous streets are easily accessible.
Relocating to London
Whether your family plans to be in London for just one year, or is resettling more permanently, the Swedish School is a supportive and open community that is ready to welcome you.
Our parent’s association, called Friends of the Swedish School, begins each academic year with a walking tour through Barnes, where tips are given about everything from the best dry cleaners to the friendliest dentist office.
If you are considering more extensive support in re-locating to London, particularly as it relates to finding housing, we recommend AC Relocation.
